5 Reasons Testimonials Are An Effective Way To Sell
“Using customer testimonials regularly can generate approximately 62% more revenue” (Strategic Factory) 1/2/2021 – (This is just one of many studies that indicate similar results.)
Do testimonials help you sell?
Yes.
Look if you said no (fair enough no pressure to say yes) I ask you to please take in the quote above regarding the impact testimonials can have on a business.
Why?
Because like it or not testimonials work. They help your business succeed.
A business without testimonials can be like someone standing on a mountain top holding a megaphone
shouting “Pick me, pick me. I can do this, or my product can do that, but I have no social proof, no clients, and no evidence. You will just have to take my word for it. You can trust me.”
That does not work. You need testimonials to sell. The evidence is clear.
First up as a business owner you want client/customer loyalty and testimonials are a way to show to potential new clients/customers that you have a loyal following. By showing you have such loyalty attached to your business you are inadvertently encouraging others to become a staunch user of your services or products as well.
Testimonials help build trust and credibility. For a start like I indicated above you can tell everyone you like that your product or your service is the best but guess what? No one really cares about what you are saying.
Harsh right? But true.
You might think your product is unique. But chances are someone else is selling something similar.
You might think no one else could do as good a job as you. You might think you’re the best, but unless you have at least one testimonial (aka some kind of evidence if you like) the only person who will believe you, is you and maybe your best friend and your mum.
Remember that if you are a business owner, you need to publish your testimonials onto social media, or no one will even know that they exist. People are slow to trust and if you have a limited social media presence and no testimonials, they will likely just keep searching until they find someone else with a greater online presence. You need social proof of your business, and its successes. Potential customers and clients demand this these days.
It is important to remember also that people are looking for a person/people and not a bunch of robots to solve their problems. So do not be afraid to be personal. Use the testimonials to highlight that your business is attached to a human/people. Testimonials are a relatively easy way to prove that at least one other person aside from yourself is a part of your journey.
Finally, if you still need further convincing of the impact of testimonials, then consider this.
You need to purchase a product or find a service.
A business/person pops up that you have never heard of before.
Yet they showed up at the top.
You click on the link.
You see they have some excellent testimonials and or evidence of work they have done or could do.
You think I would like to be a part of that. I wonder if they could solve my problem or my problems too.
You contact them and the rest is history.
Because of their social media presence, their testimonials which imply credibility, loyal clients/customers they have managed to convert you from someone who initially had been just looking into a client/customer who has paid for and used their service/product.
5 ways Testimonials help sell:
- They highlight a business’s client/customer loyal base
